Mrs. Janie Morris, MSW
Pastoral Care Coordinator (Volunteer)

Janie Morris, a cradle-born Episcopalian, and her husband, Walker, transferred to Holy Communion in the fall of 1969. She has been active in many aspects of parish life. Through the years she served as a Sunday school teacher, Carnival Chairman, altar guild member, officer of Vanderhorst Guild, choir member, and vestry member. Janie has been involved with a number of volunteer groups though the years including being president of Maternal Welfare League and an officer of Les Passes.

Janie graduated from Auburn University in 1966 and returned to her education in 1996, receiving a Masters Degree in Social Work in 1998. After a two-year period as a hospital social worker working with the elderly and adult and child psychiatric patients, she has found a home as Coordinator of Pastoral Care at Holy Communion. Her duties at Holy Communion include weekly meeting with clergy and Pastoral Care Team Leaders to plan contacts for the coming week. In addition, she documents visits and calls by both clergy and lay persons, provides ongoing training opportunities for Pastoral Caregivers, and links those in need with parish and community services.

Janie enjoys spending weekends at Moon Lake with her children and grandchildren, reading legal thrillers, gardening, writing, and French hand sewing and embroidery.
