The Rev. Dr. Jerry Harber
Associate Clergy for Parish Management

Jerry, is a United Methodist minister, who has been granted special liturgical and pastoral privileges by Bishop Don Johnson for his work in this parish where he has been on the clergy staff since 2001. As Associate Clergy for Parish Management, he assists the Rector in managing the programs and operations of the parish, freeing the Rector for other ministries. Jerry performs pastoral duties as well, and is a popular teacher in the adult formation programs of the parish. His ministry experiences include parish minister, university chaplain, counseling couples and individuals, and organizational consulting. For 15 years, while in private practice, Jerry was adjunct professor of Pastoral Care and Counseling at Memphis Theological Seminary and, for a time, was the sole professor in the field at the Seminary. With more than 30 years experience, though he no longer practices, he remains a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor. He holds a B.S. from the University of Memphis and both the Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Vanderbilt University. He also did post-graduate work in Church History at Vanderbilt, a field that remains an avocation for him. On June 29, 2009, the Feast Day of Sts. Peter and Paul, Jerry will celebrate 40 years as an ordained Elder, the UMC equivalent to Episcopal priest.
