Mr. John Burruss
Associate for Youth Formation

John came to Holy Communion in May 2004 to serve as the Director of Youth Formation. He has responsibility for coordinating and planning all programs for youth grades 6 through 12 as well as training and leaders, parents and members of the parish about the importance of youth ministry. John oversees the Journey to Adulthood program, the Alternative, junior and senior high EYC and an array of annual and monthly events and social ministry programs.

John grew up with a strong Episcopal upbringing from both Grace-St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and its namesake school. He graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor of arts degree in 2003. Working with youth has been a strong passion for John who spent seven years working for the Boy Scouts at Kia Kima Scout Reservation. In May of 2005, John was appointed Diocesan Youth Council Coordinator for the Diocese of West Tennessee. In addition to steering the Diocesan Youth Council, he is responsible for making sure the Diocese of West Tennessee has a presence at national youth events such as PYE, EYE and the Province IV network meeting.
