Church
of the Holy Communion welcomes John S. Palmer as Associate
for Music Ministries. At Holy Communion, John will serve
as associate director of the Parish Choir and the Motet
Choir and will direct the St. Nicholas Choir. He will also
serve as Assistant Chapel Organist for St. Mary’s Episcopal
School, playing twice weekly for the school’s daily
chapel services.
John is well-known
and respected in the Memphis musical community, having served
as Director of Music Ministries of First United Methodist
and also at Calvary Episcopal, Christ United Methodist,
and Mullins United Methodist churches.A
native of Pennsylvania, John is a graduate of Lebanon Valley
College with a BS in Music Education. He also holds a Master
of Church Music degree from Scarritt Graduate School in
Nashville. He is an active member of the Memphis Chapter
of the American Guild of Organists and holds the AGO Service
Playing and Colleague certificates. He taught at Shelby
State Community College and presently serves as the lobby
pianist for the Broadway Show series at Memphis’ famed
Orpheum Theater. He is presently preparing for the AGO Associate
certificate examination in June.
