Katherine
Bush joined the staff of Holy Communion in April 2005,
but she was baptized here as an infant in 1975! Katherine
grew up in this parish, and also attended St. Mary's Episcopal
School. Following graduation from Rhodes College with
degree in English, she taught at the Maria Montessori
School and then returned to St. Mary Episcopal School's
as their interim chaplain. Katherine attended Virginia
Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia and received
her Masters in Divinity with honors in 2003. Before
coming to work at Church of the Holy Communion, she served
for two years at St. Mary's Cathedral in downtown Memphis.
At Holy Communion, Katherine serves as the Associate
Rector for Formation and Family Ministries. She works
closely with staff and lay leaders to coordinate engaging
workshops, small groups and classes for spiritual formation.
Teaching and leading many of these classes is a primary
source of energy and joy for her in her work. The other
aspect of Katherines ministry involves working with
couples and families to develop and support them in all
stages their life-long journeys. Specifically, she manages
aspects of our Marriage ministries and is the contact
person for all those seeking Baptism.
Katherine's husband Stephen is an attorney, and their
world was permanently turned upside down in May 2006 when
sons Henry and John arrived on the scene! All four live
happily in midtown with their dog Ellie, named for the
poet T. S. Eliot. Katherine is an avid reader- mostly
board books these days, though, remembers eating out in
restaurants fondly, and hopes to learn how to play the
violin - someday.
