Annual
Giving Campaign
The Annual Stewardship Campaign
is an opportunity to give thanks to God and to return a portion
of
the many blessings we have received with grateful and generous
hearts. Stewardship is the careful and responsible management
of these gift s which support the mission and vision of Church
of the Holy Communion.
This year's
campaign will begin in October. Campaign brochures with pledge
cards will be mailed and a series of campaign presentations
continues at the church on Wednesday, October 24th, at 6:30
p.m. and on Sunday, October 28th, at 6:30 p.m. Loyalty Sunday,
the final day of the campaign (on which we're hoping all pledge
cards are returned) is Sunday, November 4th.

Why
is my annual pledge important?
Annual
pledges make up over 80 percent of our annual budget and support
everything we do at Church of the Holy Communion. These pledges
support our outreach, Christian education, children and youth
programs, parish life, fellowship and evangelism, as well
as our building and grounds and administrative expenses.

Is
it necessary to turn in a pledge card?
The quality of our collective ministry is determined by the
quality of our pledges. Your pledge card gives the staff
and vestry an opportunity to plan responsibly for what
has been entrusted to their care. It allows you to indicate
when and how you intend to fulfill your pledge. A pledge
may be increased or decreased at any time, as your financial
circumstances change. Pledges simply give the church a way
to gauge what kinds of ministries we will be able to offer
in a given year.

When
do I make my annual pledge?
Stewardship Sunday takes place in November each year
when pledges are made for the coming year. At Holy
Communion we typically provide two to three opportunities
for parishioners to learn about biblically-based giving in
order to make an intentional decision on how to respond to
the abundance in our lives. While most parishioners make
a pledge during the annual campaign, we encourage those
who join during the year to make a pledge commitment
when they join. Of course, if a new member is fulfilling
a pledge commitment to another parish at the time he
or she joins us, we hope the previous commitment will
be honored.

How
much should I give?
The rector and vestry endorse the principle
of proportional giving for our parish community. Our goal for the parish is to
increase our social ministry giving annually, keeping 10% as our minimum for giving
to ministries that address issues such as hunger and homelessness, and another
10% for ministries sponsored by the Diocese of West Tennessee. It is our hope
that each parishioner is also committed to the Biblical principle of the tithe
(10%) in our personal giving.
Planned
Giving
Providing for this church either in your will or through
a trust arrangement is a way to ensure that Church of
the Holy Communion will remain a Sacred Presence
for future generations and to ensure the future of our
ministries. You can make a planned gift to the parish in a
number of tax-benefi cial ways and we encourage you to
contact your attorney or financial planner to determine
the approach that is right for you and your family.

Memorials/Honoraria
Church
of the Holy Communion regularly receives contributions in memory of those who
have died or in honor of special events, celebrations, and ministries of those
we love. Gifts may be in any amount and are typically used for a variety of purposes
that fall outside the normal operating budget.

Flowers
or Aumbry Candle
There are several visible ways in which you can honor a
loved one at Church of the Holy Communion. Each week
the beautiful flowers adorning the altar in the church
are given in memory of departed family members or in
honor of friends or family members who are living. Many
choose to give flowers in recognition or thanksgiving for
some special occasion in their life. Depending on the vases
used, these fl owers can be given for either $75 or $100.
There is also an opportunity to give the flowers which
are found on the welcome table at the front entrance of
the church on Sunday mornings. Aft er Sunday morning,
these fl owers are moved to the chapel for our daily services
throughout the week. The cost of these flowers is $50.
A third opportunity is to have the Aumbry Candle
designated in memory or honor of a loved one on a
Sunday that has special meaning to you. The Aumbry
candle burns continuously, signifying the sacramental
presence of Christ in the church. The Aumbry candle
can be given in someone’s honor or memory for $20.
To make gift in memory or in honor of someone you love,
contact Judy Harber at 767-6987 for available dates.
Peggy Barrett Memorial Library
Monetary donations in honor or memory of loved ones
are always welcomed to enhance the collection of books,
tapes and videos found in the Holy Communion library.
The collection of resources continues to grow also with
the help of donations of books and other materials. To
donate books to the library, contact librarian Sharon
Fargo at 767-6987.
