The Rev. Tom Momberg
Associate Rector for Pastoral Care and Social Outreach Ministries

Tom Momberg was active here at CHC in his teenage years as a chorister, acolyte and youth group member. He earned his AB in ethnomusicology at Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, and worked for thirteen years in the insurance industry before completing his Master of Divinity degree at General Theological Seminary in 1986. Ordained priest in the Diocese of Chicago, he has served congregations there as well as in Western Pennsylvania and Kansas. In 2002 Tom completed a one-year residency in clinical pastoral education, having served as a chaplain at Bishop Spencer Place (retirement community) in Kansas City, Missouri, and at Methodist Healthcare here in Memphis.

In August of 2006, Tom was named Interim Rector by the executive committee of the vestry. He led the staff and parish through the transition time between permanent rectors, continuing the work of the Rev. Ron DelBene, who served as interim rector from November 2005 to Aug. 20, 2006. The Rev. Mark Rutenbar joined CHC as its fifth rector in November of 2006.

Tom coordinates the pastoral care, prayer and social ministries here at Holy Communion in addition to a range of liturgical responsibilities.

Tom is married to the Rev. Eyleen Farmer, an associate rector at Calvary Episcopal Church. She graciously shares her five grandchildren with him. He has two children: John, 25, who lives in Lawrence, Kansas; and Hannah, 18, who will be a freshman at the University of Dayton this fall. Tom has a passion for music, writing, poetry and contemplative prayer. He also loves walking the neighborhoods of Memphis to see how things have both changed and stayed the same over the thirty-five years since he attended high school here.
