Parish Organizations

Episcopal Church Women (ECW)
All women who are members of the Church of the Holy Communion are considered members of The Episcopal Church Women and are invited to participate in the varied activities and groups offered. Through ECW guilds, members meet in smaller groups for fellowship and outreach opportunities. They provide hospitality for many events at the Church, including the Easter Egg Hunt and the Bishop’s Reception to name a few. Through activities like these, it is easy to make lasting friendships and become a more involved member of the parish.

Brotherhood of St. Andrew
The purpose of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew is to spread the news of Christ’s Kingdom among men and boys. The Brotherhood is open to men and boys of this parish and the Diocese. Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday mornings at 8:00 a.m. in Quilling Chapel. On the 2nd Saturday, meetings consist of Holy Eucharist, followed by a hot breakfast and discussion. The 4th Saturday meeting is a service of Morning Prayer followed by donuts, coffee and Bible study in the Parish Hall. The Brotherhood also hosts the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper to raise money for local, national, and even international charities.

The Kingsmen
The Kingsmen is a gathering for all men of the parish that meet for supper, drinks, a speaker and fellowship. Past speakers have included the Rev. Scott Morris, M.D., the founder and executive director of the Church Health Center, and Shelby County Mayor AC Wharton. Frequently, the Kingsmen join with chapters from other churches around town for dinner and to hear local guest speakers.

Supper Club
Supper groups at Church of the Holy Communion began in 1989 to promote fellowship among parishioners. The dinners are a wonderful way for you to get to know people from the church in an informal setting. Supper Club consists of 6-8 people who meet for an evening of food and fellowship with each participant providing a portion of the meal. Sign ups are in August; meets September through April.

Third Quarter Group
The Third Quarter Group is for adults of all ages who like to take advantage of a variety of activities, many of which are held on weekdays. Our hope is to offer regular programs and outings that will be of interest to people who like to stay on the go.

Primetime
The purpose of Primetime is to provide fellowship and spiritual growth opportunities in the young adult community. Primetime is open to all young adults (20s, 30s and 40s) in the parish. Opportunities include a Sunday school class, social activities, and community outreach.

I-Society
The I-Society is an informal social group open to any adult (coupled, partnered, or single), especially those who are drawn to the Sunday night service at CHC. The I-Society is organized around an email list through which anyone can suggest an event to attend or a place to meet -- anyone interested in that gathering is free to attend. We have met at various restaurants for meals, attended concerts at the Levitt Shell and Collierville square, gathered for pot-luck Thanksgiving and Easter dinners, and met for game nights, among other things. If you are interested, come to the Sunday night service and stay for the reception to sign-up with your email address.

Daughters of the King
The Order of the Daughters of the King is an order of laywomen of The Episcopal Church who pledge themselves to a lifelong program of prayer, service and evangelism. Regular meetings are held each month at which time members participate in study activities to increase their knowledge and faith. Each woman called to this ministry prays daily for specific individuals, parishioners and those for whom parishioners have requested prayer. All names and circumstances are kept confidential. DOK meets on the second Sunday of each month at 3:30 a.m.

Guilds
Presently, there are three ECW guilds or groups for women at CHC.

Mary & Martha Guild
This guild meets on one Tuesday each month for guest speakers, quarterly potlucks and fellowship. Women attend these gatherings between the ages of 30-50.

Gailor Guild
This guild meets on the second monday of each month at Holy Communion. This group, between the ages of 55-75, gathers for programs, guest speakers and book studies. They usually have two seasonal parties a year and do not meet in the summer.

All Saints’ Guild
This guild meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Communion except during the months of June, July and August. This group of women in their 70’s meet for fellowship and lunch.
