Celtic Light '05  |  Celtic Grace '04  |  Sacred Impressions '03

Holy Communion has produced three recordings, available from the Parish Office or on the website: Sacred Impressions is a recording of classical music, Celtic music, and hymn arrangements by flutist Jeanne Simmons and harpist Mary Abbay Gourley (1959-2007); Celtic Grace features
contemplative music played on Celtic folk instruments (hammered dulcimer, harp, flute, Irish whistle, guitar, fiddle, percussion); Celtic Light includes more lively jigs and reels for Celtic band, along with some small ensemble pieces. In 2007 – 2008 the Holy Communion parish choirs will begin a
long-awaited recording project with an anticipated release date in 2008.

Commercial Appeal’s Bill Ellis gives Celtic Grace disc four stars

It goes without saying that we’re keen on Celtic Grace, the second recording in a series planned by the church’s music department, made possible by the generosity of Charles and Diana Crump, through the Crump Music Fund. But don’t take our word for it. Here’s what Commercial Appeal music critic Bill Ellis said about the CD in a column on holiday recordings published on Dec. 24, 2004:

Local dulcimer virtuoso Larkin Bryant follows her delightful 1998 disc, Lark in the Twilight , with Celtic Grace: Contemplative Music for the Spirit , a magically cast selection of Celtic folk tunes performed with artful collaborators Susanna Perry Gilmore on violin, guitarists Robert Feol and Barry Gilmore, harpist Mary Abbay Gourley and flute/whistle player Jeanne Simmons. Pretty and peaceful, the album is available through Church of the Holy Communion (holycommunion.org).

The disc is available for purchase at the receptionist’s desk at church or by clicking the Buy Now button above. The price is $15.00 plus $3.00 for shipping and handling. The CD contains Celtic folk music by Larkin Bryant (hammered dulcimer), Robert Feol (guitar), Barry Gilmore (guitar, hammered dulcimer), Susanna Perry Gilmore (violin, fiddle), Mary Abbay Gourley (harp), and Jeanne Simmons (wooden flute, Irish whistle).
