Production of church publications provides lots of
opportunity to serve the church. Volunteers help with
mailing The Communicator and other mailings as well as
assisting with printing and folding service bulletins and
inserts. If you’re interested in helping with these or other
communications-related tasks, contact Sarah Keeney.
More than
half the students at Shady Grove Elementary, our newly adopted school,
qualify for free breakfasts and lunches. Some do not speak English as their native
language; others struggle to do math or read. And all the students need the enriching
opportunities that a Chess Club, Theater Club, or Art Club can provide.
But
to just know that there are adults outside of their community who care about their
future would be real boost for many.
Our Social Ministry needs a few people
to volunteer to coordinate various areas and tons of folks to help with the work.
Here are the areas we are trying to provide help with:
- Tutoring:
Reading, Math, TCAP, English as a second language for Spanish and Indian Students
- Developing
and staffing after-school offerings (3:15-4:15 p.m.): Chess Club, Art Club, Theater
Club and Book Club
- Help during lunch: Assist students, develop relationships
- Teaching
manners: Men are needed to teach boys how to treat girls properly
- Reading
stories: In classrooms at various times
- Helping with the before-school
room (7:30-8:15 a.m.)
