Dr. Ehrman is the author of more than twenty books, including two New York Times bestsellers: Misquoting Jesus and God’s Problem. He is the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and is a leading authority on the New Testament and the history of early Christianity. His work has been featured in Time, the New Yorker, the Washington Post and other print media, and he has appeared on NBC’s Dateline, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, CNN, The History Channel, National Geographic, the Discovery Channel, the BBC, major NPR shows, and other top media outlets. Dr. Ehrman visited will be CHC to discuss his forth-coming book Jesus Interrupted: Revealing the Hidden Contradictions in the Bible (And Why We Don’t Know about Them).

Jon Meacham

Jon Meacham became the Editor of Newsweek in October 2006, after serving as Managing Editor since November 1998. In this position, he oversees all day-to-day editorial operations of Newsweek and Newsweek.com. As Managing Editor, Meacham supervised Newsweek's coverage of politics, international affairs, and breaking news, and has written cover stories on politics, religion, guns in America, race, and the death of Ronald Reagan. He is a published author of several books notably: American Gospel: God, the Founding Fathers, and the Making of a Nation which has become both a New York Times and Washington Post bestseller. Meacham's Franklin and Winston: An Intimate Portrait of an Epic Friendship, a chronicle of the wartime relationship between Roosevelt and Churchill, became a New York Times bestseller. Jan Karon, the author of the bestselling Mitford series and New York Times bestselling author, visited us to discuss her new book, Home to Holly Springs. Her Father Tim stories have led her to write many novels for which she has won several awards. At Home in Mitford has been nominated three times (1996, 1997, and 1998) for an ABBY (American Booksellers Book of the Year Award) award. This is the only book to ever be nominated three consecutive years. Her fourth Mitford novel, A New Song, won a Christy and Gold Medallion award for outstanding contemporary fiction in 2000. She has won several other Gold Medallion awards for A Common Life, In This Mountain, and Shepherd's Abiding. Jan's wonderful novels have even made their way to the #1 spot of the New York Times bestseller list. Out to Canaan was the first of the Mitford series to hit the New York Times bestseller list.
