BECOME
A MEMBER
Church
of the Holy Communion welcomes all persons . We strive
to ensure that all who enter our parish church feel the sacred presence of Christ. You are
invited to participate fully in the life of this community, particularly in worship,
small groups and in opportunities to serve others. You can become a member by
notifying us that you intend to participate regularly in worship and to share
your resources with this parish. There are visitor cards in the pews on which
you can indicate your desire to join. Place it in the alms basin or hand it to
an usher.

How
do I become a member?
If you are interested in becoming a member here at Holy
Communion the process begins by contacting Greg Ward. If you are already a
baptized or confirmed Episcopalian, the office will request a
letter of transfer from your last Episcopal church. This letter will
transfer your membership to Church of the Holy Communion. If
you have been baptized in another Christian denomination we
can recognize you as a baptized member. Simply let us know the
denomination and date of your baptism. If you wish to consider
becoming a confirmed Episcopalian, or to be received into the
Episcopal Church from another faith tradition, contact Greg
Ward to enroll in our annual Inquirer’s Class.
Is
Confirmation for me?
Confirmation is an important sacramental
rite in the church and is a step one can take to make a mature public affirmation
of their faith and commitment to the responsibilities of Baptism and to receive
the laying on of hands by the bishop. (Book of Common Prayer, page 412.)
Those interested in being confirmed prepare by taking our Inquirer's Class. The
class is held in the spring with the bishops visit usually following in
late May. Many lifelong Episcopalians choose to take the Inquirers
Class to reaffirm their faith. For more information, contact Laurie Harwell.
What
if Im interested in Baptism for myself or my child?
Our
Book of Common Prayer designates certain days in the church year as being especially
appropriate for the celebration of Holy Baptism.
These are: the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord (first Sunday after the Epiphany),
the Easter Vigil (Saturday night before Easter), the Day of Pentecost, and All
Saints Day or the Sunday after All Saints. While we hope to reserve
Holy Baptism for these special days, exceptions can be made. For more information,
contact Katherine Bush.
