Minister to Children
Holy Communion Staff
Alice Duke Hollis came to us from St. George’s Independent School where she spent 22 years as a parent, volunteer, long-term substitute teacher, an assistant teacher and an associate teacher. She also helped at Woodland Presbyterian School, Lausanne and Incarnation Catholic School.
Before that, she worked in her degree field of communications as supervisor of Corporate Communications for MLGW. She was active in the local chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), served as president of the Memphis Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and conducted communication workshops at national utility conferences. She also did freelance work for companies such as FedEx and Humphreys-Cayman Ltd. and wrote for the local Collierville newspaper.
Alice has taught both pre-school and middle school Christian Education classes and is a trained Catechist for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Level One. She is excited about helping to set our youngest members on their early path to a relationship with Christ. She is responsible for the formation classes (pre-k through 5th grade), Children’s Chapel, the Nursery/Toddler Center, Wednesday night children’s activities, the Summer Sundays program and other special events as they relate to children.
She loves being a member of the Collierville Friends of the Library and especially enjoys being in a book club with some of her Gamma Phi Beta sorority sisters. She is a great believer in the mission of the YMCA and, early on, served on regional and international committees for that organization.
She and her husband, Phil, live in Rossville where they have a marketing/video production facility and Phil is restoring a historic 1869 home. Their two adult sons, Ed and Peter, currently live in Los Angeles and Boston.
