Learning

Christian formation at Church of the Holy Communion is designed to nourish and equip the congregation to be the body of Christ in Memphis, Tennessee, and the world.

We understand that being the body of Christ requires a healthy dose of study, sacraments and fellowship in order to give back to God in worship and return hospitality, dignity and respect to our neighbors. Our shared identity as the body of Christ is meant to be a lifeforce for the world.

Our Hands act in service to others…

Our Feet guide us in journeying together…

Our Heart is fed by the life-giving body and blood of the Eucharist…

Our Soul is offered in worship to God…

Our Minds pursue wisdom through study…

Our Body is represented by everyone active in the life and ministry of the church…

Our Spirit receives the breath of life by the Holy Spirit’s guidance.

Through Christian formation, we embark upon a life of being: A life of giving, receiving and journeying for people who learn, grow and seek God in all others, places and times.

Goals of Christian Formation at Church of the Holy Communion

  1. To build community
  2. To gain understanding
  3. To live faithfully
  4. To love God
  5. To love one another
